It hardly seems real...

According to VirginAtlantic.com, we are down to T-minus 9 days, 12 hours, and 5 minutes. It is really strange at this point. We have been planning since Easter 2007 and now we are 9 days away. I suppose it will be completely surreal next week as we board the plane. As we travel more and more I wonder if this feeling ever gets less and it all becomes more routine. At some level, I hope it is always like this - the exciting/nervous/anxious feeling is part of the fun.

I bought a new digital camera this weekend for the trip. My old one was 4 years old, and rather clunky. It also ate batteries like Augstus Gloop eats chocolate, so I wasn't looking forward to needing $30 worth of AA batteries with me whereever I go. I purchased a Kodak Easyshare M763. It is quite small and it is fire engine red. I was pleased when I turned it on in the store and it was ready to take the first picture after about 3 seconds - and then it only needed about 2 seconds between pictures. The Sony needed about 30 seconds between pictures. My only concern is that it has a rechargeable battery. The nice part is that I can recharge it through my laptop which we'll have with us in order to blog. But I'm kind of nervous about just how many pictures I can take before it needs to be recharged. I was told I should be able to take 100s but of course, I've yet to test that. I do know that the Sony needed new batteries after 15 pictures or so if you used the flash.

So now all the major purchases are made and we are down to making sure all of the items on the "to-do" list are done. This includes making sure that I have all of the paperwork and cleaning done at school. I must admit that the past week has been hard and I know that next week will be harder. It is hard to focus on "finishing up" at school while my mind is already in England. Four more days with kids, and then two days of post-planning and my focus can officially shift
